Origins
Ageratum houstonianums, commonly called floss flowers or simply ageratums, belong to the Asteraceae family, which also includes sunflowers, and originated in Mexico. The flowers' genus name comes from the Greek words a, meaning "not," and geras, meaning "old," which alludes to the flowers' long-lasting color.
