Origins
Eucalyptus is a member of the Myrtacae family, and its name comes from the Greek word kalyptos, meaning "covered," which refers to its bud coverings. The eucalyptus plant is native to Australia and Tasmania, although hybrids also came from New Guinea, the Philippines and Java.
Vase Life
20 days or longer.
Care and Handling
Use of gloves recommended to prevent sticky hands.
Design Uses
The plant's attractive, silvery foliage is useful as a fragrant filler or to lend vertical or horizontal drama to designs. Just remember that eucalyptus' strong scent may overpower other fragrances. Eucalyptus also dries beautifully. To air dry, bind a bunch of stems together and hang them upside down in a well-ventilated, dry place.
