Structure and chaos co-exist in this distinctive bouquet with its handwoven square collar. Wild-looking species, such as Bupleurums, Leucadendrons and deciduous huckleberry, contrast the stately, classic shapes of the roses, Ranunculi and Cymbidiums.
The pale pinks of the 'Sweet Akito' roses that compose this bouquet's focal area are offset by the deeper wine hues of the surrounding floral ingredients, and the layered greens add depth and dimension.
The collar is created from lengths of Iris foliage, which are woven in a traditional over-and-under pattern to create a square mat. Most of the ends are trimmed evenly, turned under and adhered with floral adhesive to hold the square shape. But a few foliage tips are allowed to escape the confines of the weave and extend past the strict outline. The deciduous huckleberry also extends the outline, but in a light and airy manner. After the woven collar is constructed, it is glued to the back of the bouquet holder, and the flowers are arranged into the bouquet holder's floral foam.
